Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman C. Richard Cranwell announced Monday that Dave Mills will serve as the next Executive Director of the party.

Mills, a 7-year veteran of Virginia politics, is the current finance director of the DPVA and has previously worked on gubernatorial, congressional, delegate and issue campaigns in Virginia.

"You couldn't ask for a better person to take over as Executive Director than Dave Mills," Cranwell said. "Dave has years of experience in Virginia politics and in multiple facets of campaign work. He is the right choice to lead the DPVA into a new era of grassroots party-building and cutting-edge media."

Mills was selected by the Democratic Party of Virginia's Executive Director Search Panel, a group of political and grassroots leaders from across Virginia.

Mills worked on the Gubernatorial campaigns of Tim Kaine, Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds. In addition, he served on the Kaine Inaugural Committee and worked to pass Mark Warner's 2004 historic investment in Virginia schools. Mills has also managed a campaign for Congress in Charlottesville and a race for House of Delegates in Hampton Roads.

"At this critical time in the history of the DPVA nothing is more important than ensuring we have the right innovative, technologically-savvy, grassroots-oriented leadership to take us to the next level," said Search Panel member Alfonso Lopez, a DNC At-Large Member and State President of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia. "Dave Mills understands what we need to accomplish in Virginia over the next few months and the next several years. With his unique blend of political, finance, and policy skills, I believe he will make us all very proud."
