In a campaign conference call today Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds, , who recently accepted massive six-figure donations from big national unions SEIU and AFSCME, announced his "Business Leaders for Deeds" effort.

What You Didn't Hear on Today's Call:

Deeds: Bad for Small Business, Bad for Jobs

·         Deeds' Virginia FREE ratings have been in the bottom half of the State Senate every year.

  ·         On the other hand, his lifetime rating from the AFL-CIO is 92%.

·         Creigh is endorsed by big national labor unions

·         Refuses to oppose job-killing Card Check legislation which would eliminate the secret ballot for Virginia workers.

·         Opposed a bill requiring an economic impact analysis before new government regulations on business (HB1073, 1994; SB558, 1994).

  ·         Deeds co-sponsored legislation to triple the medical malpractice cap (HB2628, 1999) and voted against a bill designed to prevent frivolous lawsuits from going to trial (HB1218, 2000).

  ·         Has voted to weaken Virginia's right to work laws (HB2265, 1999; HB584, 1998)

·         Deeds Voted Against Legislation That Would Permit Employers To Post A Notice Informing Employees Of Virginia's Right-To-Work Laws (HB 2618, House Floor Vote, 1/29/97)

·         Promised big unions that as Governor, he'd be their "partner" in Richmond

·         Deeds refuses to oppose job-killing "cap and trade" legislation which would have a negative impact on one of the biggest employers in his State Senate District.

  ·         Deeds has no significant management experience. He is a small-firm trial lawyer who specializes in personal injury and criminal defense work

·         Deeds is bankrolled by big national unions: Received $100,000 from the Service Employees International Union on June 18th  and $500,000 from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees on June 26th
