As Prepared For Delivery

“The most important job of the next Governor will be to restore public confidence in the economy.  Of all the candidates, I’m the best prepared to lead Virginia forward.  On Friday, The Washington Post endorsed my campaign for Governor ‘based on who would make the best governor in the Warner-Kaine tradition.’”

“The quickest thing we can do to restore confidence in the economy and create jobs is to invest in a statewide transportation solution.  I think it’s going to take someone like me, who can bring people together from all parts of Virginia to move us forward. That’s why Northern Virginia leaders like Mary Margaret Whipple, Dick Saslaw, Janet Howell, Chap Petersen, and Chuck Colgan are supporting me.  The Post endorsement highlighted my ‘unique position’ as a rural lawmaker, giving me the tools I need to bring people together to forge a solution on transportation.”

“As Governor, one of my top priorities is to invest in education so that we are developing the smartest workforce in the world.  Recognizing the fundamental importance of higher education to the health of our economy, I've created my ‘Better Schools, Better Jobs’ initiative for every Virginian attending a state college, university, or community college.  I’ve put forward a detailed 10-year plan to create an additional 70,000 two- and four-year degrees to make higher education more accessible, and a 4-year plan to make it more affordable for every Virginian. “
