Governor Bredesen Administers Oath Of Office To Mary W. Freeman
FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
July 01, 2008
Governor Bredesen today administered the oath of office to Mary W. Freeman as a Director of the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. Freeman was appointed by Bredesen, Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey and Speaker of the House Jimmy Naifeh earlier this year.
“Mary brings to her new position, first and foremost, a desire to ensure that people are served and treated justly, and a commitment to help those who may not be able to help themselves,” Bredesen said. “I am confident that she will serve the TRA, and our citizens, with integrity and fairness.”
Freeman, who becomes the first African-American woman to serve on the TRA, served previously as a legislative director to Governor Bredesen. Prior to joining Bredesen’s staff in 2003, Freeman served as executive assistant to State Representative and Speaker Pro Tempore Lois DeBerry. Freeman also serves on the board of directors of Davidson County Community Corrections Program and St. Luke Geriatric Center, Inc.
