DEPT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES: Non-Supporting Father Pleads Guilty to Criminal Non-Support Division of Child Support Services

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) announced that on June 13th, James Baker, III, age 44, appeared before Rochester District Court Judge Daniel M. Cappiello and pled guilty to one Misdemeanor count of Criminal Non-Support for failing to pay Court ordered child support. James Baker, III, of Raleigh, NC, owes a total of $30,232.60 in back child support for his child.

Judge Cappiello sentenced Baker to 12 months at the Strafford County House of Corrections, with all but 59 days suspended for a period of three years. Baker received 59 days of pretrial confinement credit. Additional conditions of his sentence include: a partial restitution payment of $5,500.00 on or before June 23, 2008, a Waiver of Extradition, and two years probation under the supervision of DCSS’ Legal-Criminal Enforcement Unit. In addition, Mr. Baker must also reimburse the State for extradition costs incurred as a result of transporting him from North Carolina to New Hampshire.

Mr. Baker’s apprehension and prosecution is the result of the combined efforts of the Strafford County Sheriff’s Department, the US Marshals Service, and DCSS.
