MARSHFIELD - Gov. Matt Blunt together with the citizens of Marshfield today celebrated the Fourth of July at the 130th Annual Independence Day Parade.

"This is the time of year we celebrate our nations independence. We are blessed to live in unprecedented freedom and to enjoy liberty and prosperity that remain the desire of the world," Gov. Blunt said. "We must never forget those brave men and women who have bravely fought to defend our freedom. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their service to our country, their patriotic spirit and for their role in making America a place of freedom and opportunity for all."

The governor is a sixth generation Missourian and many of his relatives and ancestors hail from Webster County.

First Lady Melanie Blunt and William Branch joined Gov. Blunt in celebrating the Fourth of July with Marshfield residents.
