JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today announced 10 Missouri counties have been approved for federal assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance Program as a result of the June flooding.
"This program was added to the existing disaster declaration as a result of information obtained by our joint damage assessment teams," Gov. Blunt said. "We will continue to send damage assessment teams to other areas of Missouri impacted by this flooding disaster. I appreciate the federal governments quick response to expanding the June 25 disaster declaration."
The 10 counties approved for Public Assistance are: Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, Lincoln, St Charles in northeast Missouri along the Mississippi River; and Atchison, Holt and Andrew in northwest Missouri along the Missouri River.
The State Emergency Management Agency will notify local officials and the media about meetings designed to explain the public assistance process and help officials begin repairing flood damaged infrastructure.
