JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt has sent a letter to Missouris Congressional Delegation to consider a supplemental Community Development Block Grant appropriation to support the states long-term recovery needs as a result of flooding on the Mississippi River.

"Given the size and scope of the disaster and the fact that whole communities are impacted, I request your thoughtful consideration of a supplemental Community Development Block Grant appropriations bill. The funds may be used for mid-to-long term recovery activities such as business assistance, housing assistance, voluntary buyout and relocation, local match to Corps of Engineers levee repair, and demolition and debris removal not covered by FEMA," Gov. Blunt wrote in the letter.

Gov. Blunt noted that as a result of the record flooding impacting Midwestern states along on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, it may be beneficial for Missouris Congressional Delegation to work with neighboring states congressional delegations to ensure passage of this important appropriation.
