LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm will sign legislation creating historic new protections for the Great Lakes on Wednesday, July 9, at 10:15 a.m. at Oval Beach in Saugatuck.

The governor will be joined by Senator Patricia Birkholz and Representative Rebekah Warren for the bill signing event.

The legislation sets standards for sustainable water use within state borders and marks Michigan’s passage of the Great Lakes Compact, a multi-state agreement to protect Great Lakes waters from large-scale withdrawals and diversions outside our region.
