July 28, 2008 -- Attorney General Steve Six announced today $2.25 million in grant awards for crime victim’s services and programs across Kansas. These grants are administered by the Kansas Office of Attorney General’s Victim Services Division. “I commend all programs receiving grants this year for their hard work and commitment to Kansas crime victims,” Six said. “I look forward to learning how the grants have improved each awardees’ ability to provide effective services to victims.”

The following total amounts have been awarded:

State Protection From Abuse Fund: $1,330,500

Domestic Violence: $1,141,000

Sexual Assault: $189,500

State Crime Victims' Assistance Fund for Child Abuse and Neglect: $210,000 TOTAL: $2,253,000

Six also calls for these funds to be used effectively for victim services, so there is a heightened focus on efficiency and accountability in the participating programs. The Victim Services staff will also continue to conduct site visits to ensure that quality services are provided for victims across the state. They will also conduct technical assistance visits to address the specific needs of grant program.

“These programs make a difference in lives of Kansas crime victims,” Six said. “I will continue to fight for additional funding and support for the programs that assist victims.”
