Topeka - Kansas Speaker of the House of Representatives Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) appointed Rep. Clay Aurand (R-Courtland) to represent the House on the Special Education Funding Task Force.

“Rep. Aurand is actively involved in his local school district and chairs the House Education Committee.  He understands the challenges our state faces in funding our schools properly.  He will do a great job on behalf of the House and Kansas students and parents,” Speaker Neufeld said.

Passed during the 2008 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 531 establishes the task force.  The group will study and make recommendations for changes in the existing special education formula and regarding Medicaid reimbursement to school districts.

Rep. Aurand serves the 109th House District.  In addition to chairing the House Education Committee, he also sits on the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Budget Committee.
