Topeka, Kansas – A recent Rasmussen Reports poll released yesterday confirmed what the Kansas Republican Party has been saying all along: Kathleen Sebelius’s priorities are wrong for Kansas and that Cedar Crest should not be for sale.

Kansans thought Kathleen Sebelius selling a reception to political backer and notorious abortionist, Dr. George Tiller, was inappropriate. Only 37 percent of voters thought the reception at the taxpayer-funded Governor’s Mansion was acceptable. Nearly half, 44 percent, said it should not have been allowed. And a majority of voters, 51 percent, say receptions held at the governor’s mansion should not be offered to special interest groups.

“We have been saying all along that Kathleen Sebelius’s priorities were out-of-step with everyday Kansans. This poll confirms it and reflects the fact that voters are now aware of what she has been doing,” said Kris Kobach, Chairman of the Kansas Republican Party. “The people of Kansas are tired of being taken advantage of by Kathleen Sebelius and her political cronies. Whether it is spending an extraordinary amount of time outside of Kansas during an important legislative session in order to campaign for Barack Obama, using the Governor’s airplane to take lavish trips to sporting events in order to influence legislators, or using Cedar Crest to raise money for special interest groups, the people of Kansas have had it with Kathleen Sebelius.”

The poll shows that Sebelius’s approval ratings have dropped to 52 percent, a 17-point drop since early this year.

Commenting on Sebelius’s plummeting approval numbers, Kobach added, “This is what happens when you disregard your duties as Governor. Kathleen Sebelius shows up when she’s not otherwise engaged campaigning for Barack Obama, but is absent when the legislature is struggling to bring jobs to Kansas and leadership from the Governor’s office is needed. Kansans want leadership, and Sebelius has let them down.”
