SACRAMENTO – State Superintendent Jack O’Connell today released the following comment after California State University (CSU) Chancellor Charles Reed proposed to limit enrollment at CSU because of the state’s budget crisis:

“Now, of all times, California needs to continue investing in its most important economic driver – a quality public education system. The California State University system provides the educated workers California needs to retain its economical competitiveness. Providing access to higher education for all qualified students is key to strengthening our economy in the future. As the Legislature makes difficult decisions to address this budget crisis, I urge them to hold public education as top priority and to raise the revenues necessary to maintain high quality and access for all qualified students.”
