SAN DIEGO – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell today congratulated Alyssa Lynch for being named the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Career Technical Education Administrator of the Year. She is being honored during ACSA’s 38th Annual Leadership Summit currently being held in San Diego. Lynch is the director of the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s Regional Occupational Program-North.
“Alyssa Lynch has demonstrated extraordinary passion and commitment to help students develop the skills they need to compete in a more global, economically challenging world,” said O’Connell. “She has selflessly dedicated more than 15 years to advance Regional Occupational Programs and Career Technical Education. Ms. Lynch has helped so many young people define their career paths, whether they go straight into work after graduating from high school or pursue higher education. My congratulations go to Alyssa for all her hard work.”
O’Connell has long been a supporter of Regional Occupational Programs and Career Technical Education that links California's rigorous curriculum to real-world skills. The California Department of Education unveiled its new framework last year for Career Technical Education, offering schools guidance on how to provide a rigorous and relevant educational experience that integrates both academic and career technical education components. In 2005, the state adopted groundbreaking Career Technical Education standards that specify procedures and skills students will learn through the lens of conceptual understanding.
