The Arizona Department of Commerce and its European Trade Office will join an increased number of Arizona companies and economic development groups representing the State and aerospace industry at this month’s Farnborough International Air Show 2008. It is a premier world aviation event connecting manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and end users within the civilian and military aerospace fields.

The Arizona group has a dual focus of export promotion and foreign direct investment attraction.  Commerce leverages funding to secure a booth each year at the show, which is taking place July 14 - 20 in Farnborough, England.  Commerce offers a package that allows some small and medium sized companies the ability to afford to attend. This year, it will bring ten such companies: ArmorWorks, Competitive Engineering, Creative Precision, Firetrace Aerospace, Galaxy International, MMI Precision Technology, Modern Industries, Silverado Cable Company, Turboanalisis, and Zircon Precision Products.

“We want to attract the attention of aerospace companies around the world to look at Arizona as a place for investment and as an entry point to the U.S. market,” says Jan Lesher.  “At the same time, we are expanding opportunities for Arizona companies in the global market.”

Department of Commerce's European Director, Nick Deane adds, "Connecting with European businesses is a proven route for US businesses to become involved in their aerospace program - and to meet with companies where technology transfers and distributorships can benefit both sides.”

The Farnborough Air Show is one of the premier aerospace shows in the world.  The last event in 2006 attracted 140,000 trade visitors and 1,480 exhibitors.  43 countries were officially represented and $42 billion worth of orders were announced at the show.
